One of the best ways that I’ve found to absorb the message of a Scripture reading is to write a prayer based on its meaning and influence on me. This one is based on Isiah 43.
Dear Lord,
You have called me out, yet, too often, I look the other way as if you are pointing to someone else. You know no time, yet in my limited time here, I am distracted, discouraged, disillusioned, disappointed, and I forget all that you have done for me with your love. I have spiritual ADD and shiny object syndrome for my salvation.
I feel lost, looking for answers, yet you will make the way for me through the wilderness. In my distraction, I do not hear you talking to me through the Spirit so that I can follow the path you have set for me.
Give me the strength and the faith to always remember that time is irrelevant – it is the moment and only the moment where your love for me, your fight for me, your guidance to me matter. Eternity is your moment; help me, Lord, to achieve that moment with you.
