The past 18 months have been interesting in the McInnis household. I feel confident that it has been in yours, too. The time was rather enlightening, so my wife and I decided to purchase some land. We have plans for it, but don’t expect to break ground any time soon.
The old saying is true. My dad used it, as did most everyone interested in land: “They aren’t making any more of it.” Likewise, the adage of “location, location, location,” guides many purchases of land; it did for our decision. We are limited as to the usage; you could say it is zoned. That’s okay, we’re glad that we now own it outright as we look to the future. The recent past has provoked a lot of thought about the future and investing therein. We did. You should, too, in whatever aspect of the future captures your attention.
Perhaps that is the key: what about the future captures your attention? Finances, retirement, or something more heavenly…you have to choose what to focus on and how to prepare for it. This time of year is a good time to decide what to focus on. We chose a nice piece of land near a tree. Our gravestone was put in the other day. We hope that we don’t need it any time soon, but whenever the time comes, we’re set and the kids have less to worry about. Thinking about the future from multiple perspectives and priorities provides a calming, peaceful focus.
