Hold your hand in front of your face, as close as you can get it while still being able to focus on some detail, like a ring or the lines of your palm. What do you see in the background, without shifting focus? It’s all a blur. Such is the world today.
There is so much nowadays that is “in your face,” that it is impossible to see much that is farther out, unless we specifically choose to change focus. We should.
Beyond the myriad schtuff that is right in front of us, grabbing our attention and blocking our view are beauty, goodness, humor, kindness, tenderness, joy, love…and much more. There are millions of things that touch our senses, our heart and our soul: nature, art, faces and wonders. Life is beautiful, but we have to change focus beyond that which keeps jumping in front of our faces. Look further…there is beauty out there.
