The day started slowly. The dim light coming through the bedroom window fooled me as to the time. I checked my watch to discover it was later than I thought; the limited lighting a consequence of a rainstorm. I knew it was going to be a good day.

Sitting on the sofa, laptop computer on my lap, hot coffee within arm’s reach while the sounds of rumbling thunder and persistent rain filled the room. I dissolved into the environment like a spoon of sugar into hot tea. I was no longer a witness to the weather conditions but felt mixed in with them.

In those moments, I was reminded of the importance of moments. Our days are filled with them. Notice them. Enjoy them. Dissolve into them. Don’t run away from them or hurry them along. They are but moments, after all.
