My youngest son used to say as a kid, “I’m using my good brain,” whenever he came up with a good idea or a solution to a problem. I believe God wants, and expects, the same from us.
In the world today – not dissimilar than in all centuries past – we are confronted by lies disguised as truth, wolves in sheep’s clothing, false prophets, vices presented as virtues, deceptions masked as choices and science proffered as religion. So little is the Truth.
God blessed humankind with brains capable of incredible feats of discovery, creativity and discernment. Unfortunately, the brain tends to function more like a sponge than a filter because it has the capacity to absorb so much. What can you do with all the information that floods us every day in the Information Age? Use your good brain.
Proverbs 1:7 states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Wisdom and instruction help lead us to truth and Christ is THE Truth.
Consider all those people, groups and forces that mandate that you accept their version of truth – or any cause or matter – and seek to punish, ridicule or admonish you for wanting to research, learn and discern on the path to wise decisions. Their attitudes speak volumes on where they stand relative to truth and the Truth.
Use your good brain. That is why God gave it to you.
