We never know when something is the “last time,” be it a conversation, kiss, smile, or breath. Or getting together with friends. That wisdom should change our days.
This meme caught my eye…and my heart. I was blessed to have grown up when kids met in the street for a variety of sports or games, or converging before heading like a small pack to the nearby bayou for adventures. And…then we didn’t. Seeing the meme gave me a Puff the Magic Dragon moment, the old folk song that spoke of growing up and growing away until Jackie Paper came no more.
A colleague at work and I were talking about a year ago about one of the clients at New Danville who had passed away during surgery. He said, “I didn’t realize the last time I saw her would be the last time I saw her.”
A lot of things can separate us from people or activities. We never know when a time will be the last of its kind, whether it is getting together with friends, seeing someone smile or simply being with someone. Shouldn’t we be more kind, caring, empathetic, attentive, and appreciative in each moment then? I think so.
